Hyterm\u00e4 was declared a protected nature area in the year 1931, and the fact that is has survived almost completely in its natural state is all down to an ex-rural police chief&nbsp; Heikki V\u00e4yrynen (1916-1940), a.k.a. Romu-Heikki, and his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The islands have a one-of-a-kind collection of art made from rocks, and easily walked nature paths. Hyterm\u00e4 can only be reached by boat which you can rent and then row the 400m to the island.
